Bio del Docente

Dr. Selma Landen Odom was founding director of the York University MA and PhD programs in dance and dance studies, the first offered in Canada. She has published in a wide variety of journals, books, newsletters and online platforms. She co-edited Canadian Dance: Visions and Stories (2004) and served 25 years on the board of Dance Collection Danse, Canada’s national dance archive and museum. For several decades, she has guest-lectured and presented at conferences and symposia on the practices and history of the Dalcroze method. She was a founder of the International Conference of Dalcroze Studies and served on the Scientific Committee during the first three conferences. The first (ICDS1: Coventry, 2013) saw the publication of Practical Idealists: Founders of the London School of Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a specially commissioned centenary essay that she co-authored with Dr. Joan Pope. She received the inaugural ICDS Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to the field (ICDS4: Katowice, 2019).
